In addition to the benefits that it can bring to their business, involvement in pre-employment activity can allow employers to contribute to an issue or organisation that they have a specific interest in. You could take the time to explore with them if there are any particular client groups or local organisations that appeal to them.

For Example:

  • They may want to work with a client group that reflects their workforce – e.g. an employer with a predominantly female workforce might be interested in working with an employability organisation that focuses on women.
  • There might be a particular issue in the local community that they would like to contribute to – e.g. youth unemployment.
  • They might be interested in working with a local organisation that works with clients from with their local community.
  • Employers undertaking the ‘Promote community health and well-being’ criterion might be interested in working with employability organisations that focus on health issues.

However, if there is not an organisation that fits with their particular interest, you should still try to encourage pre-employment activity by stressing the benefits that it could bring to their business.
